Fruit

I am currently eating some peaches from the jpj dining all and they are very yummy! I have heard that if you eat to much of the same fruit that it is not as good for you. You need to switch the kinds of fruit that you eat up. My favorite fruit is strawberries. mmm! I love berries in general. blackberries, blueberries, rasberries. I enjoy kiwi, green apples, some peaches, green grapes, watermelon and much more. I love fruit in general its just wonderful. I am really enjoying my peaches and I do not know the last time I had them, so if the switch you fruits up becuase its better for you theory is correct I am most definitly getting the full effect. Nom nom nom!!! Don't you feel like apples and bananas are to blow up? There not THAT good and yet they are everywhere. Why is that? You don't see kiwi just floating around and yet its DELISH! hmmm I wonder why? Lifes mysteries...

Bahamas

So I just got back from the Bahamas late satruday night and it was amazing! First off we won and are champions which was the most important thing. We played Inidian and South Dakota State. And we lost to south dakota state 3 years ago in the same tournament so they were in for some payback. It was a really great game. They were all three points shooters. Every single player on that team could stroke threes. 1 through 5 position. That is how they stayed in the game they would have back to back trips up the court hitting threes. But in the end we won and it was a marvoulous victory.

The Bahamas its self was beautiful!!! I had never been their before so it was awesome. our first day there we had a "beach day" where there was a water trampoline, jet ski's, banana boat, kiyacks and other fun stuff but we werent allowed to be on anything with a motor but it was still cool. It was also raining during our beach day but I repeate it was still very fun.

There was also very cool shops and a "market." this market was all outdoors with people just sitting by their stuff. I ended up spending pretty much all my per diem. I just couldn't help myself. And everywhere I went i would here "come over here beautiful come look at my things." Becuase they say before how much i bough at the previous store. I am such a sucker! hahah.

Alltogether it was a very sucessful trip if I may say so myself. And Both of my parents came too so I still kinda sorta got to celebrate thanksgiving with them too which was really nice.
hope everyones thanksgiving was great and they enjoyed their time home with their families!

Energy Drinks

I am currently at the library working on a few papers that I need to get finished before I go on our trip to the Bahamas. I am at the library with two of my teamates Chelsea and Moni. And when Moni came she brought us both a red bull. I never drink energy drinks but I decided why not so I did. Thoughts on energy drinks in general? Do people drink them becuase they like the taste or becuase they need the energy? both? I personally like the energy drink "Rockstar." I used to drink that all the time back in the day. Amp was always a good one as well. Never a huge redbull fan though. Anyone ever tried on of those 5 hour engery booster things? Are they good? Do they actually legit work or is it all a placebo effect type deal? I am suspicious. scams. I do not feel any more engergized. LIES!

Tanning

So we had our first home game the other night and on the cover of the game paper that they hand out to everyone was all five of the first years. out of the five first years we have 3 that are black and 2 that are white. The background of the cover was black as well and that did not help at all either. When I went out to shoot before our game I saw one of the guys that works there holding and was like "this girl looks like shes in a corpes." I looked so white I actually looked like i was dead. No jokE. Like a living VAMPIRE. It was horrible. And everyone thought it was so harlious that they wanted me to sign my invisible picture.

I have always gotten white jokes becuase I am pretty much albino but it never really phased me. Until I saw myself the other day on this cover. After 19 years of refusing to go tanning, I gave in. Two of my teamates Erinn and Chelsea ( who are both very tan) finally convinced me to go with them. Plus my mom saw the cover and was like heres the credit card...go tanning. So today was the third time I've gone tanning. And all of my teamates are relaly excited to see the results. I still feel like its just not going to work and that I ligit don't have pigment but atleast I can say I offically tried everything.

So hopefully after a few more times and by the time we play games on TV I won't look like a vampire anymore. But if I do..just accept my vampire ways and LOVE ME FOR IT! :)

Gatorade. Is it in you?

I am sitting here wondering what to blog about while I drink my delicious Gatorade. So I figured why not talk about something I enjoy very much. I like gatorade. a lot. It is just one of those things that you can drink all the time. You can drink it anywhere, anytime and anyone can enjoy it! There is no age limit to enjoy this taste treat. I myself am a fan of lemon-lime. It's just amazing. And I am currently drinking it. But gatorade is one of those drinks that is amazing in every flavor. It truely is. And now a day there are just so many exotic flavors I cannot keep up with. I stay simple and classy with my lemon-lime but I'll never no to trying a wonderful new yummy gatorade flavor if it come my way. The thing about gatorade is though it is actually not that great for you. My trainor always yells at me for drinking so much. He says it is very good fro replenishing after working out or a game but not just throughout the day. But I do anyways because its delish and I can't say no to the giant G with a lightning through it. Thoughts on gatorade? Is everyone a fan? I do not actually think I have ever come across a person who was not a huge fan. Please inform me other wise. Until then, Keep replenishing your bodies and enjoying the lovely refreshing taste of gatorade.

First Game

I am currently in a quiet room at a hotel in maryland. I am in "study hall" on the road. We have OUR FIRST GAME tonight at 7pm!!! I am soo excited! Both my parents are coming my roomate from high school who I have not seen since the summer, my other frined shane, and all my roomates friends from college. We play UMBC tonight. I cannot really focus on my work because I am so jumpy so I figured I would blog instead. It felt so werid to sleep in a hotel on a week day. I was confsued on why we would sleep over when it is only a 3 hour bus ride and our game is not until 7pm on Friday. But it was a new and fun experince. I roomed with my teamate Whitney and we watched Clev. Miami game last night. The pillows in the hotel were too fluffy. I had a lot of trouble adjusting to the size and feeling of these overly fluffy pillows. It became a problem. But I eventually just threw all the pillows off the bed, so it was okay. Anyway's study hall is over and we now have practice ( which doesn't make sence to me either haha) but I going! Yay!!!! And if we won tonight Coach Ryan gets her 700th win!! Just a heads up we have our home opener on sunday! Please come! GOODLUCK TO OUR BOYS TEAM TONIGHT!!! SHOUT OUT TO MY BOY TRIST!!

Optimisim

I think optimism is so important. The other day I had a really bad day and I was just so mad and upset. Nothing was going right. There was nothing I could have done but to think that someone how there has it way worse then I do. No matter how bad my day is I still have a great family and friends who love me, I'm getting a great education, I'm playing the sport I love, I am healthy and have many more wonderful things in my life that plenty of people do not. Whenever things are not going the way they should, just think about all the things that you do have and are happy with. It is never as bad as it seems. And I think always being optimistic is essential. The next day after my "bad day" I decided that today was going to be a good day. No matter what. Becuase I determine whether or not my day is going to be good or not. As hard as it is sometimes you always need to smile and enjoy life. You only live once. I had been struggling for a few days at practice and I could have done one of two things: give up and accept it or change it. I changed it. I will never accept defeate. Never quit and never give up. Because in the end I believe it will all work out. Always stay positive and optimistic!!!!

movies = life

I am always quoting movies. Always. I pretty much speak in movie quotes. My teamates are constanly making fun of me. I am always like "WHAT MOVIE IS THAT FROM?!?!" and everyone is always like "WE DON'T KNOW LEXIE!!" I am pretty sure they are all just bitter becuase they never know any of them. But when they get one right they always are so excited. hmmmm. Movies are great. I could sit at home all day and jsut watch movies. comedies are my favorite because I am a big goof ball. But I will pretty much watch any type of movie. Some of my favorite movies are Love and Basketball, Rocky ( all of them, but rocky 4 is my fave!), zoolander, all ben stiller and Adam sandler movies ( my jew boys!) I do not know what I would do without movies in my life. Matter a fact, I am going to go watch one now. BYE!

where is the love

You grow up watching love movies and always being told that love is the greatest thing. And that one day you are going to grow up, fall in love and get married. Well my good friend and teamate who I will not mention by name (SIMONE) does not believe in love. And to me that is the most depressing pesismistic view ever! To think that my one true love is not out there is the most depressing thing ever. It just is. Becuase you grow up watching all these love movies and their happy endings and to think when you are a little kid that that you may not get your own happy ending eventually, just makes me want to cry :( haha. I have never met anyone who does not believe in love. What do you guys think? Does love exist? Do you think everyone has just one specific person they have to find? Or are there many? Or none at all? Do you think people just settle these days and thats why divorce rates are so high?

cell phones

Isn't it crazy how no matter where you are or where you are going you must ALWAYS have your cell phone with you. I am OBSESSED with my phone. I have a sidekick Lx and its my life. And I am completely aware that I have a crazy obsession with my cellular device. I am aware. Which is the worst part. I never let anyone touch my phone. It has to be in my hand 24/7. I feel naked without it. I cannot go anywhere without my phone and I know a majority of you out there are the exact same!! How did it get like this? I didnt get my first cell phone until 8th grade and it was really for to call my parents to tell them if I needed a ride after practices or where I was going. But now kids have cell phones in like 2nd and 3rd grade. Which is think is CRAZY. why would a 2nd grader honestly need a cell phone? why? for what reason? I just done understand. Can anyone tell me?

Anyways, back to my obsession with my phone. When I am without my phone I feel like im not safe. That something is missing. I just do not feel right. And its crazy to think that thats how attached I am to a cell phone. Everyone out there who cannot live without their cell phones let me here you say yeaaaaaaaaa

Facebook stalking

So I am totally a huge facebook stalker. And thats how I find out everything about everyone. I think its crazy how I find out how people I have not talked to in forever are now getting married. Like ligit gettin married. I found out my friend was gay through facebook. I found out my friend was pregnant through facebook. She had pictures of her babies ultra sound up. I think it is crazy how this is how we find out information about people these days. Its actually really absurd.

facebook never lies in my book. I really do find out everything about every one through facebook. Who is dating whom, Who is now not talking, who is now friends, where people go to school, what they are doing with their lives, and soooo much more. Just by looking at peoples wall to wall's, pictures, status', and so on, I can honestly catch up on just about everyone of my frineds lives. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? I think it could be either. There are soo many debates on if its good or not, but I am just talking about how crazy the fact that I actually have the POWER to find all this information out. Technology is incredable. And I love facebook. what are your thoughts? Becuase there is soo much to talk about on this topic.

I love my team

I love everyone on my team. I feel bad for teams that have major drama, don't get along and talk behind each others backs. Those are the teams that are horrible on the court because they do not have any chemistry off the court. And you can tell by the way they move the ball around.

I am so thankful to have such an amazing team. We are all so close and comfortable with each other in such a short period of time. For instance, as of a few days ago I had to get a contact for one of my eyes to be able to play. And I have had some SERIOUS trouble with taking it out of my eye. I am perfectly fine with putting it in my eye, but taking it out is just a no go. Therefore, my dearest friend and amazing teamate Jayna took it out of my eye for me. She has now three times for me. How many people do you know that are willing to go into your eye and take your contact out for you? How many people do you trust to do that to you? This is just one example of why I love my team so much. I could go on forever about each and everyone of them, BUT I have other homework to do.

Just letting everyone know that I LOVE MY TEAM! And that they should be jealous. hehe :)

PHILLIES about to have that repeate!

For those of you who do not know, I am from philly. I am a HUGEE Phillies and Eagles fan. I do enjoy my flyers as well. I have season tickets to the Eagles right on the 50 yard line. (DId you know its a 91 year wait for eagles season tickets?!) and Phillies season tickets right to the left of home plate.

And as of last night the Phillies are currently on their way to having a REPEATE of last year. For those of you who are unaware, The Phillies won the world series last year. And I was at the 5th game too. It was amazing. I also was at the Parade and had front row seats and got to touch every players hand on the Phillies as they walked around holding the world series trophy. The best part was touching my husbands hand Cole Hamels<3

My dad has been at the last 3 home games against the Dodgers. My dad has already bought 2 tickets for a world series game and becuase I am currently located in Cville and basketball season is just starting to begin. I am extremely sad to say that I do not think I will be able to go home for a game. Only if there was a way I could somehow go to practice, drive home 5 hours to the game, watch it, and then drive back in time for classes and practice. Unfortunatley, this does not seem very realistic as much as my father has been trying to convince me. It makes me want to go cry in my room under my covers. :(

BUT even though I will most likely not be able to be physically with my Phils, I will be mentally. They will feel my power and I predict another WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP!!!!! It is going to be amazing to have an East coast world series between the Yankees and the Phillies. Everyone better watch becuase it's going to be INSANE!!!!

recruiting for college basketball

Recruiting for college basketball has chnaged drastically througout the years. If you have ever seen the movie "Love and Basketball" which is based on in the 80's Monica Wright the star female player who is trying to play college basketball did not get recruited until her last game of her senior year. And she also found out she was going there through a letter in the mail.

Now kids commit earlier and earlier. Some kids commit as early as their freshman year. Is this a good thing or a bad thing? so much can change from their freshman year in high school to when they are ready to go to college. Especially for boys. What if they do not develop, or grow as much as expected? All my guy friends that play basketball, their games have chnaged drastically from their freshman year in high school to their senior year. Michael Jordan didn't even make varsity his freshman year.

Now coaches can call, text, email, send letters, take home visits, come to your games, come to your school, and pretty much stalk you to get you to come to their school. Should that be allowed? kids will be in class texting coaches, which is a huge distraction from school as well. I also think this is why kids commit to schools so much earlier, becuase they get tired of all the hastle of the schools. They just want everyone to leave them alone and for all the chaos to stop!

Should the rules be changed? Should their be more rules to protect the athletes? Then again there are plenty of rules now that many coaches break. Would it make a differnce? Was it better back in the 80's when they could only come to your games? and most of them would only see you play once? Is is easier to be recruited now? or harder?

Are boys and girls recruiting that differnt?

Fortune Cookies

I was at a chinese resturant last night with my family and some friends. It was so fun and the food was great. And at the end of the meal everyone got a fortune cookie. We went around the table and all read our fortunes. I started to think; why are we so intrested in what a tiny piece of paper has to say? Do we really think it is going to come true? And if it is a bad fortune do people actually believe something bad is going to happen to them or do they just dismiss it? Who in the world has the right to tell me how MY future is going to play out. Only I can decide that. Not some stupid cookie with a piece of paper in it!!! I wish I could meet the person who writes this fortunes. Becuase I have quite a few things to say!

more bus issues

well I am back on the topic of buses. They seem to be taking over my life. I spend so much time on a bus from morning workouts to class, to my dorm, to practice to study hall and then back to the dorm. Each day is filled with many bus rides.

Last week I had a really big isse with buses not stopping for me. I now have offically decided that seeing the bus you need to get on pull up to your stop when you are to far to get it is worse then a bus not stopping. Buses not stopping does't happen that regularly, but watching a bus pull up and you are way to far to even run but close enough that you can see it slip away!! its horrible. And it is happening more and more these days and its driving me insane! Does anyone else have this issue? expereince this lots? Because I am really staing to think I am the only one who has crazy bus issues. please tell me there are others out there

Bus's that don't stop

Last week Ms. Bowles came into class and told us how she had walked to class that day. She said she tried to catch the bus along the way because it was coming, but the bus drove right past her. Little did I actually know how annoying it is to have a bus just drive by you until a few days ago. My teamate China and I were outside JPJ waiting for a bus for a considerable amount of time, and when the bus finally came it drove right by us. The bus was no where close to being full either. Why does this happen? Are there certain procedurals one has to do to stop a bus? Does one have to make eye contact with the bus driver? Does one need to walk towards the bus as its passing to imply they want to get on? Are there unspoken bus waiting codes? Or is it that the bus driver just didn't see people waiting? hmmm...

Hot people on TV

Yesturday after a long day of classes and workouts I decided to relax and watch some Gossip Girl. I just started watching Gossip Girl this past week because one of the girls in my hall has it on DVD. Not only did I realize what a stuck up show it is, but I also realized that every single person in that show is extremely good looking. So I started to think about all the other shows I watch such as One Tree Hill and Dawsons Creek. I came to the conclusion that in pretty much every show I could think of had really good looking people in it. But why would they not have good looking people on TV? Who wants to look at ugly people for an hour of their life? I can't decide if I think it is a good thing that everyone on TV is georgous or if I think TV should be more like real life where not everyone is attractive? Or does it not even make a difference? Would you still watch a show if everyone was average or ugly? Because I know that there are shows that I only watch because certain really hot actors are on it. What do you think?
